4 Ways To Save Your Skin This Winter

1. Products!

Products, products, products! The CORRECT products make all the difference for your skin. It can’t be stressed enough. It really is about quality over quantity. Unless you are buying cosmeceutical grade skin care there is not much difference between buying a moisturiser from Woolworths for $10 or $40. Cosmeceutical grade skin care is the difference and they are the only type of products that we recommend and stock at Skin Divinity.
Coming into colder, drier weather it’s important to make sure your skin is getting the extra nourishment it needs. Different skin types will need a different skin care regime. There is no “one size fits all” method so we highly recommend coming in to see us so we can asses your skin and provide the best course of treatment. If you can’t get in to see us we have had amazing results via phone.
As a guide, the best hydrating products going into Winter are Osmosis Quench Plus, Aspect Hydrating Serum, Cosmedix Rescue Plus, Aspect Hydrating Mask, Aspect SMC and Aspect Phytostat 9. If you have rather oily skin we would suggest Aspect Sheer Hydration instead or Aspect Jungle Brew if you suffer breakouts and dry/tight skin for its antibacterial properties.

2. Start fresh!

Coming into Winter is a perfect time to have a thorough treatment to remedy summer damage to the skin and instigate a clean, clear canvas. We recommend The Purity Facial as it targets congestion/rough + dry skin. It includes an Oxygenation Mask, Microdermabrasion, Lactic Peel, LED Light Therapy, Hydration Mask and any extractions that need doing.

3. Probiotics!

Gut health = overall health. Our digestive system not only plays a huge part in how our surface skin structures operate it is also responsible for a large portion of how you feel. Colder weather can sometimes mean a lower mood so we want to combat that as best we can by making sure our gut health is up to the job of producing all too important serotonin. We have sought out the best possible probiotic system which we highly recommend. The Digestive Tune-Up by Regul8 is a complete, highly functioning probiotic package which works to cleanse, restore and maintain digestive health. We also can’t praise Relax enough as a stand alone product to help reduce mental fatigue, stress and anxiety. These products are available to purchase at Skin Divinity either over the phone or in person.

4. Fats!

Let’s not forget the amazing bounty of good fats we have available to us at every meal time to optimise the health of our skin! Fatty fish such as Salmon, Mackerel and Herring have excellent sources of Omega-3’s (as does Hemp Milk if you’re looking for a dairy-free milk alternative). Avocados for their high Vitamin E and C content. Walnuts are a great source of essential fats as are Sunflower Seeds and Capsicum. Sweet Potatoes are an excellent source of beta-carotene and broccoli gives sulforaphane – both beneficial to protect against sun damage. Last on the list are Tomatoes for Vitamin C, Green Tea for catechins and Dark Chocolate for antioxidants, our favourite of which is Loco Love (chocolate that is actually good for you and tastes amazing!).
